Tony Hann, Chair, Skills Governor

Although originally from Kent, I have lived in Buckinghamshire for over 30 years now, the last 21 of these in Chesham. Sarah and I have two children, Rachel and Joe.  Both of the children went to Elmtree Infant and Nursery School.

Sarah has worked in the Social Work Team in Hillingdon. She is a qualified aromatherapist and works for MIND in Chesham and Chalfont St Peter.

I did 8 years at university studying Applied Physics, but my working life has been spent in finance as a Fund Manager. This means that I invest money on behalf of various types of client into assorted stock markets around the world. My specialisation is ‘Emerging Markets’, especially Asia, which means that I have been lucky enough to visit lots of different places over the years.

I have been actively involved in the PTAs at Elmtree and Thomas Harding as Rachel & Joe have progressed through the system and have also helped out with the organisation of the town carnival.

I originally became a Governor because Barbara Veale, (the Headteacher at the time) asked me and I was too scared to say ‘No’!  However, once I overcame my original nerves I have found working on the Governing Body to be a fascinating way to put something back into the community.  Elmtree is a super school, and the best part of being a Governor is coming to see it in operation.

I have seen quite a few changes during my time as a Governor, but the ethos of the school remains unchanged and I will continue to offer my support to the school to help it stay that way.
