History helps children understand the past. At Elmtree we promote curiosity and encourage children to ask questions and look at evidence to understand themselves and the relationships between different groups of people.
Through topic work children learn how specific events and important individuals have influenced Britain and the world.
Teaching includes looking at concepts such as change, continuity, significance, similarities and differences. Children enjoy learning about significant events, people and places in and around Chesham.
Our topics are enhanced by trips to places such as Waddesdon Manor and The Tower of London.
In Year 2 when learning about World War 2 the children experience what it feels like to be evacuated. Please visit the gallery and class pages for more information.
