Sue Gotley, Local Authority Governor

I have been a member of the Governing Body of Elmtree Infant & Nursery School since my appointment as a Local Authority Governor in 2009 and in September 2015 I became the new Chair of the Governing Body.

I am a retired Primary School Head Teacher so being a governor at Elmtree has brought me back to my roots and my passion for education. For me it is a privilege to be leading the Governing Body to work to ensure that the children at Elmtree receive the best education possible.

Nearly all of my working life was spent in South Wales but following my retirement I moved to Amersham. Two of my children and two grandchildren still live in South Wales, and I also have family and three more grandchildren living in Amersham. One reason for moving to this area was to be within easy reach of London and the proximity of exhibitions, theatre and sporting events and I also attended Birkbeck College to study for a Diploma in Social Anthropology.  I love to travel and have spent time in Africa and Asia and most European countries, often by bicycle.
