Paresh Modi, Co-opted Governor

I live in Pinner, Middlesex with my wife and daughter, who is due to enter secondary school this year.

I have worked in corporate life for around 30 years; and the reason why I wanted to become a Governor is simply to put something back into the community. When I was asked to serve on the Governing Body of Elmtree Nursery and Infant School, I jumped at the chance. I was immediately struck by both the dedication of the staff as well as the enthusiasm and behaviour of the children. For me, the school has a special, warm and welcoming atmosphere.

I grew up in Coventry, after which I went on to study at an international college, and then on to university to gain a degree in Physics and Planetary Space Physics, followed later by an MBA. I entered into a career predominantly in telecommunications and IT. For my day job, I head up Business Development & Innovation for Vodafone Group, based in London. This involves spending time with some of the coolest young, budding technology entrepreneurs across the globe.

My spare time is invariably spent on family-related activities including cycling, walking and days out. Food always seems to play a big part too. My friends and family would describe me as a bit of a geek. For example, at the latest count I have some 25 internet-connected devices in our home, and growing.

I hope to bring knowledge of digital and mobile to the school; as well as to support the Governing Body and the Head in any way possible that could support the development of Elmtree. I feel deeply privileged to be able to play whatever part I can, to help Elmtree achieve the highest aspirations for all its children.
